PS2 Original won't boot...
PS2 Original won't boot... –

I was playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 just 2 days ago, and everything worked fine. By the way, this was an original I had borrowed from my friend. Now, today, the laser clicks a bit at bootup and won't load this same game. Either the browser says "Disc read error" or the Red Screen
My PS2 is modded, got it modded by a professional installer, just so I wouldn't screw anything up. Also, I cannot tell what modchip they installed. My FFX original boots just dandy, as well as my other PS2 backups. PS1 backups and originals work fine as well. DVD movies are working good too.
Any suggestions? Did I post this in the wrong forum?
Please give feedback of any kind...I'm open for suggestions.

you mean nothing will boot now?
well thats a laser issue. try to recalibrate, or get a new laser.

Thanks for the suggestion, and no, everything still boots fine (from the games I have) except that one game.

Whoa, whoa! Try to clean the laser first with a laser lens cleaner, THEN if all else fails recalibrate it or replace it.

Doubt it's a laser issue, all my other games work fine.
Perhaps there are different ways to boot?

First tell us what modchip it is.

Aye, a modchip feeds data into the ps2 (sorry don't know any details) to recognize copied backup games as real games.
Thus, we are able to play CD-R and DVD-R media on the PS2.
Am I right? Honestly, this is all I know

No, not what a modchip is. You misunderstood me... What modchip is IT? A magic 2, messiah2, magic3?

OH LOL
Gotta read those posts properly....sorry bout that.
Not quite sure, It's either a Messiah 2 or Magic 3. The store that modded it for me did not tell me what type it was. It's a no swap modchip, is all I know.
I'm betting on Messiah 2 though, because Magic 3 shows the original PSX logo when booting it PSX/DVD mode, correct?
When I do so, that doesn't show. Argh I'm so confused...
Or it could be magic 3 because I have to do that.

one more thing we need to know... What version ps2 is it? SCPH#? You could look in the FAQ section, and read either the Messiah 2 troubleshooting guide.
