ps2 only shows matrix symbol

i just finished my install of a matrix infinity on a v4 no gap ps2.

booted up the ps2, worked fine, played a burned ps2 game, reg ps2 game, burned ps game, reg ps game, burned dvd, reg dvd.

right in the middle of playing the burned ps game the console froze and just hung on a loading screen.

i hit reset the console turned on and off but the blue cd light was no longer on.

the tray would not eject at all

i turned off the console, turned it back on, it ejected i put in the firmware upgrade cd (i had 1.39 firmware on the chip, i went to 1.5)

now the ps2 turns on, blue cd light is off, cd tray will not pop out, and the matrix symbol is on the screen....


any suggestions?

i hit buttons on the controller but it is a no go

i took the console apart and checked all the traces on the motherboard, they are all clean. all the connectors are plugged in, ect...

It sounds like you have a Matrix Infinity clone...

They cannot be flashed past 1.4

Have you got a picture of the install???

i got it from modchipman.com, it has infinity printed on the back has the blue dot ect. it is an exact replica of the one on the infinity website

the dvd drive was just working for a few minutes then it stopped again...my title screen says playstation 2 with infinity v1.5 under it

then it froze on a black screen, if i let it sit on the matrix screen for like a minute it eventually does something...

bah, now its working again, don't have one freaking clue what the problem is...does it matter if i have the ps2 horizontal or vertical?

If its truly an MI it sounds like you might have a bridge some place or maybe wires swapped.

ijust took it apart again and look at all of the pins under a microscope...nothing bridged, everything seems to be going to the right places ill take a picture after i plug it in again and see if it works or not

If you dont have the controller in port 1 the infinity will by default wait 10 seconds before it does anything. If the game is freezing intermittently this sound more like a laser issue. Seeing that your PS2 is a V4 thats most likely what it is. V4's have poor lasers and there age only adds to the problem.
