I have a Matrix Infinity 1.88 with a v14 PS2, and it only reads discs reliably if I hold the lid down very very tightly. As soon as I let go, the game will freeze, as if it can no longer read from the CD anymore. Any suggestions?

The micro switch in the little hole near the reset switch.
the reset/power switch must be loose; if you don't screw the all the bolts from the bottom, the switch is very likely loose
So just tighten the screws on the bottom of the PS2? Or different screws? I bought the PS2 Pre-modded, so I haven't actually even opened one yet. Just wanna make sure I knoww hat I'm going to be tightening before I touch it. I'm paranoid that I'm gonna damage it, and not have it working at all anymore.
If it stil dont work you can use a referance to the Tape and Tissue mod. The one by the eject, you can just put a piece of thin coardboard, like a cig carton. or soda carton.

I don't think you're assembling the console correctly. Take it apart and put it together again.

It's working fine now, apparently just the screws on the bottom needed tightening. Yay, I feel smart now.
Yep, that's the problem most of the time. The modchip installed makes the PS2 a little fatter. So screws need to be tighten. Have fun.
Does anyone have a pic of where the end of the ribbon from the reset/power switch goes under the CD-ROM? I have a V1, but after I had it modded it appears that the mobo is from a V3. I was able to find quite a few .pdf's for disassembly and reassembly; however they do not reference mainly the chip and mobos. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Peace
