PS2 Modchip Question

Ok, Im new to the PS2 modchip scene. I have modded Xbox's for a while now, and am wanting to get into PS2 mods, so here is my question.

Is there a modchip that will allow me to put a larger Hard Drive in it, such as a 200Gb, and one that will allow me to backup my Games to my Hard Drive, and if so, which one?

Any one that has a memory card manager.
Basicaly what this does is allow you to launch programs from your memory card.
this being said you can load the patched hdloader elf into the memory card and boot it from the manager program of that chip. The hdloader elf has or can be patched to recognize and utilize the larger hd (thanks to zero-x clement and crazy c)
the crystal chip at this moment has the most advanced boot manager the matrix infinity the second. those would be the two chips to consider for what you are looking for.

So, that means that I can backup the games to the HDD, and play them off of it, or do I have to burn all my backups to a disk to play them?

Yes you can play them off the HD.
BUT only 95% of the games are compatible with it.
There are compatibility lists around the internet.
they also tell you what modes to select for playing the games.
