PS2 Modchip help
ok i was looking around this site and one thing it is lacking is a total noob guide
that explains everything in detail about moding
i want to mod my PS2 to play burned backups and dvds, i do not know what version ps2 i have i dont even know how to find that out
i do not want to doaa swap every time i go to play a game(not sure if that is possible)
i just want a simple plug n play mod chip thats easy to install and use
anyone can help me answering these questions please
There are no plug and play modchip =(
If you want to play backups without swapping the best way is a solder-chip which requires you to solder to about 16-18 points. If you can't do it yourself get someone to do it for you.
To find out which ps2 you own please visit this site: http://richspsxparts.com/version.html
1. Well for version number go on google and find ps2 version guide.
2. Use the search feature.
3. It's possible to do that.
4. To make backups on dvd use dvddecrypter using google.
5. Get a matrix infinity for all the nice features if you can afford it. If you cant get a duo 2 SE. I recommend you send it in to a modder since there is no reliable plug n play modchip. There is a DMS4 EZI but search and Stay away from it.
I hope this helps.
thanx guys that helps alot
ii think the i might go matrix i read the most about it and mostly everyone seems pleased
the crystal chip is a good choice too
Make sure you go to the BST vendors section for so you dont mess up the ps2 since its very hard to install a modchip on a ps2.
I wouldn't say its very hard to install a modchip... I would say that it is risky if you aren't at least an intermediately skilled at soldering and/or don't know what you're doing.
yeah, take a basic soldering course, get the right equipment and its a breeze. probably 2-3 hours to install one at the beginning, being 30 min to dismantle the unit first. Or sell your unit and buy a pre-mod.
