    Hey there
this is going to sound pretty hammy but wont know till u ask
i brought a modbo 4 modchip to install into my version 12 ps2 and was all going well till i hit the b g h i points
anyway i have spent 6 weeks trying to get wires to stick to these points and they are burnt and not flush with the board now
i have brought another modded ps2 off the internet cause of wasting so much time on mine
is there another point u can solder these wires to???? im spending at least 2 hrs a day trying to solder them but nothing is making them stick
my friend brought a mod the same for his ps2 and ha never soldered anything before had his in and running in 2hrs and when i asked for help he laughed and said its easy just keep at it...
so any input would be helpful right now as im not giving up till its done and that could be a long time away
    thanks

I've had issues with the vias too. Basically, grab either one, a fiberglass pen, or two, a nice sharp hobby knife and either rub against the motherboard if you have the pen, or VERY GENTLY scrape along the edge of the via until it's nice and shiny. Then try getting a bead of solder onto it. If that doesn't work, try applying some flux in very small amounts to clean the point and then try soldering to it. For alternate points, you will need to find the CD/DVD controlling IC. It should be on the other side of the board. Cross reference diagrams from different versions to find the right chip legs. Note that soldering to the IC will be MUCH more difficult.

Good luck! Remember, patience is a virtue.

Edit: You will also want to install a laser fix to prevent it from having a current overload which can result in the lens melting since you have a v12.
