PS2/Messiah - Can't figure it out.
PS2/Messiah - Can't figure it out. –

I got a PS2 modded with a Messiah I bought from gamegizmo. It worked fine for about 5 hours booting up all my games I tried. I left it on about 2 hours then went ahead to try a different game and all the sudden the screen was stuck on blue. It would not even go to the browser screen, just a blue screen. I sent back my PS2 to the installer and he opened it up and could not find any mistakes at all. After putting it back together it all the sudden WORKS again. What is up with this?
I need to know if this problem could be the Messiah chip acting up so I can try to get a replacement chip if it is. The Installer and I are worried this problem could happen again.

Test it some more and see if it acts up again.

Depending on which Messiah was installed, if it was a clone, you will notice the SMD diodes used are not as low profile as the authentic Messiah. In this case, the diodes are very close to the chassis that bolts on over the mainboard and they can be so close that with the right amount of pressure (and it doesn't need much!), it will make contact with the diodes' contacts. Now the good thing is that it doesn't do any harm, but then again, it doesn't fire it up either.
To fix that issue, check your Messiah module and see if it is as I've described it. If so, then all you need to do is get a piece of laser printer transparency (or similar thin but durable plastic) and stick it on the section of the chassis plate which is above the Messiah module. This will ensure no short circuits to ground. I've fixed a few people's units modified with these clone-Messiah's by other dealers.

PS2/Messiah update!
PS2/Messiah update! –

I got my PS2 back and it worked for 2 days this time. It's stuck on the blue screen again (won't bootup), I opened it up and put some electrical tape on the bottom of the chassis as recommended by LarZ and it still won't go to the browser screen. Same problem as before. After the PS2 is on for a few hours I changed games (hit eject, put new game in, hit reset) and it stayed stuck on the blue screen and would not go to the browser screen.
What could be wrong?

Tell the installer to check the voltage point. I had a similar problem so I changed the 3.3V to the point specified in Charlie's guide for Magic2 V7.
Greets!

Did your PS2 shut off while playing or did it stop loading properly once you changed a game and stay on the blue screen? (refuse to go to the browser screen)
Did your PS2 fail right away or after a long period on?
Thanks!

The specific problem of my PS2 was after about 10 or 5 minutes the tray refuses to work.... Turning it of for a long time allowed it to work again.... but the same minutes.
If I dissassembled the unit and reassembled it, it worked again.
And all of that strange problems dissapeard changing 3.3V point.
Greets and good luck!
