ps2 khs400-c laser in a v2 playstation2??? is this possible??

my v2 ntsc ps2 just started acting up and i was wondering if one of the "closed face" v7 lasers would fit in my v2 ps2, since in pictures i've seen on rich's psx parts

if you scroll down to the lasers...

the laser that is for v1-v4 consoles and the "closed face" v7 laser look identical????

has anyone else tried this and more importantly, did it work??

and in case you were wondering yes i've cleaned the laser, but the only way it will read dvd-r now is in diagnostic mode.

yes they work fine i replace them with v7 closed face lasers all the time i have a v7 laser in a v2 now
