I know I have a Ver.4 date code 1b ps2. I would like to know how do I know what bios I have( 010, 020, gapped, non-gapped).
Where do I look to find it?
Can I tell my the model number or by opening it up
Thanx

Only by opening it up...
.... where you'll find an 030 gapped BIOS
Thanks for the quick replies guys, but what am I looking for when I open it up?
open to the mobo, theres writing with the nubers, ya cant miss it.
sorry if it seems like im not getting it![]()
so when I open the console and look at the motherboard it will actually say something tike 030 gapped bios?
Actually it's quite easy to miss. Look for a recangular black chip with a 0xx printed on it in small letters.Originally posted by liquidreams

Now how would I be able to tell if it is gapped or not?
Gapped BIOS would look something like this:

|||||____|||||
Um...thats a bad example, but it will have a large space in between the legs(small silver pins) of the chip.
from talking to various guys at various times it has been my experience that almost all V4 1B have a Gapped Bios (030), although this theory could be wrong. but ive never seen anyone having a V4 1B having a non-gapped bios.
