PS2 Game enhancer

I have been looking/searching everywhere and I only found out about no-solder modchips but nothing tells anything about a game enhancer like modchip that was available with the psx. Is there such a thing?? Will there ever be such a thing?? Can you install a modchip on a PS2 without having to open it up?

there are no solder mods but they aren't that good. u have to open your ps2 to install the mod. the only thing i could think up is to do a cog swap ot tray swap with swap magic that might break yoru cd tray
