PS2 Eject button problems

hey fellas!!!

Today I was playing a game(CD BKUP of WRC PAL), and suddenly the game froze, I tried reseting my console, but when I did the led on the eject button did not turn on.

Now the eject button does not work and neither does my PS2.

Anybody got any advice before I take my machine apart.

Open your ps2- check the ribb-on cable.

I just did, visually it looks OK. Do not have the tools to see if it bad or not, thinking of getting to the shop later on.

Finally after two and a half weeks of waiting, my PS2 is back and working.

If anyone is interested, this is what was done to my PS2:
-Spindle Motor IC BA6664FM
-Laser Focus/Sled motor Drive/Eject IC BA5815FM

These parts were both changed

Apparently the voltage fluctuations in my country mixed with a couple of other things (i.e. one of the wires of my mod was on top of an IC) were the reason these components were not fuctioning properly

Hi, I have this same problem.

I turn the machine on and then i get a screen with fuzzyness over it and no light on the eject button.

How did you find out which parts of the PS2 were damaged?

Actually, I took my PS2 to an installer. seemed that he had experience with the problem, he just changed both chips and it got my PS2 working again
