what i can do?, the movie backup dont boot neither..
Would your chip happen to have an underline beneath the 7?
Guichi, with the exception of Z point, the new china-magic diagrams are applicable also to the older Magic 2 chips.
Go-kun is about to advise crist that if the Magic 2 is mounted on the PS2 motherboard and double sided tape has been put over the thick pad on the back, then there might be undue pressure on both the motherboard and the chip.
I've posted on the Magic 2 location for crist to see and so has LOD.
Well, it turns out I've now had it verified that the rumor about psx mode not functioning correctly is probably true. It turns out that one re-seller of the chips is reporting that psx mode only plays hk silvers, but not originals or cdr backups. Further that it can be fixed by the addition of a 3 wire mod or neokey. Currently only one seller is reporting this issue, but I am checking with some others as well to see if it's just this one place or if everyone is having this issue. I'm sorry I can't be more specific about who this info comes from, but I've been asked to keep this info on the "down low" for obvious reasons. Anyway, I am currently waiting for a friend to receive one of these supposed bad chips, then I can see for myself if it is actually true. I should know Wednesday and will add more info at that time.
So it is possible that some of these v7 problems are due to this issue....at any rate, more later, when I have more info.
I'm having the exact same problem. Brand new V7 NTSC, with Magic 2 V7 with the underline (Orange/brown PCB). Psx Cd-r will not boot, they will come up as an audio CD or the red screen. The PSX Backups have been verified to work. Have triple checked the install, tried changing the SCEX point with no luck. DVD movies also skip, PS2 mode works fine but havent tried Dvd-r games yet. Chip was just purchased a few days ago in Canada.
I've done the same as Guichi with a succinct description of the problem. In the meantime, from my research with some who have reported this problem, it may well temporarily solve the problem (at the expense of GS2/AR2) to disconnect the the Z wire and report the outcome.

ive sent an urgent message to the magic2 rep in order to get some sort of statement on this issue. Any sort of message may not come that quick as he is out of town to Hong kong and mainland china on business trips.
Should be easy enough to do with the Magic 2 stuck on the outside of the cage.
Oh, and another thing, power/gnd MUST be thicker wire. This relieves allied symptoms associated with DVD movies and may (but may not)_ bear on the PS1 problem.
I was wondering about that 3-wire addon chip - assuming it's the neo2.2, which wire get soldered on [numbers, please]? I can't pull up any sites that show neo2.2 diagrams with labels for each point...although I could guess on 2 of them [ground/SCEx, duh].
Jee I would like to know the status of this... I am in the market to get one but if the psone games wont work on my ps2 then that will be a prob.
You can check my thread in the ps2ownz forums for more details about this subject.
Here is ths link:
I'm just too lazy to copy and paste the whole thing over.
Anyways, on the neo2.x it would be, if memory serves me, wires 1,2,and 8 that got connected.
