  1. #1 Question Conflicts with Sony network adapter and Apple Chips?

I picked up a Sony NA a few days ago and was anxious to test it out, but was disappointed to find I couldn't get past the menu screen. When I click on the set-up screen, after some loading a window pops up saying the disc tray is open, but it isn't. I'm not sure if it's the disc's problem or if Sony implemented some sort of modchip protection. Has anyone else run into or heard of a similar issue? I've got an Apple Chip (Apple M3, I think) in my system. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Ok, so I did a little research: apparently the apple chip is not compatible with the network adapter software. It's not compatible with any demo software, either. This leads me to believe that it doesn't boot home-brewn software such as the divx player or qCast tuner.

This new information, in turn, has allowed me to come to this conclusion:

    Apple chips are garbage.

Talking to the store that sold me the chip and installed it, going to ask for a swap with a better chip, probably a Magic 3.1 or at least a Magic 2.

I don't know too much about apple mod, but if there is a PSX mode, try booting the utility disc on it. It work on my system

You know, I didn't even think to try that. I will now.

Edit: You, sir, are my saviour. You've saved me time and money.

Now I wonder if this month's OPM demo will boot in PS1 mode. Too bad my buddy isn't here anymore to try. Oh well, I'm just happy I can set up the NA now
