Problems with PS2!!! HELP!!
Problems with PS2!!! HELP!! –
I've read about this issue: the clock won't allow me to set the time and date, (i assume i'll just try to unplug the battery and try it again)
but now I need help on this one!! After completing the install of the messiah 2 pro 1.3 chip, and setting everything back up, the laser refuses to read the discs! I can hear no moving of the laser, it just goes straight to browser...
Can somebody help me please? thank you
did you hook the laser ribbon cable back corretly? and open the cdvd drive for God's sake, so we can know FOR SURE what's going on, you can see everything from there!
No carny can probably tell enough from just listening!
The PS2 lasers are noisy
Check BA chips
Check you CD controller connection points
Check ribbon cables are all back in place - there is a ribbon cable that goes between the drive and the MB that can come loose from both ends - make sure it is secure.
Also check ot make sure you have not crushed the reset cable.
That no shorts exist and that no cables are being crimped.
Also make sure that the chip is not touching the metal plate when assembled.
yep checked all the cables, wires i didn't check yet, just concentrating on getting that laser working first ....got the laser working, but it doesn't "click" it is more "stiff" as if trying to move.
well....fooniman, your advice did help. I opened it up to watch it. The rails the laser slides on is moving fine in one direction, but refuses to go in the opposite direction. When shutting off the ps2, i could move it but it moves in jumbles...like, in clicks, very stiff.
Any remedies? i tried grease, doesn't seem to help
Thanks for the advice!
i would recheck the bios wires, but it's the laser unit itself which is much stiffer than normal. the ps2 is off when I move it. It's smooth in one direction (towards the cd grip circle) and very stiff, and moves in clicks (away from the cd grip circle)
I'm just wondering what i could do to "loosen" the situation.
