Problems with the PS2 –
05-30-2005,07:44 PM
Well, the story goes like this...
I borrowed a friend's PS2, but he already said that it was having some problems running
some games. well... i've tried to run the Castlevania he borrowed me and nothing... then
i've looked on the boot cd (it was one of those DVD Region X cds...) and it had a crack
inside...
I thought then, that the problem could be the DVD Region X. I've tried to copy it on the
PC, but the CD just exploded inside my DVD-R drive ;/
Besides the DVD-R doesn't working for a full day even after I cleaned it... nothing worse
happened.
I downloaded various different versions of this DVD Region X, and the Swap Magic 3.3, the
problem is: I don't know which one to burn. And besides that, I've tried to burn one of
these versions, but the ps2 hangs just after the initial screen, on a black screen with
PlayStation written on it (like that 2nd black title screen from the old PS1)
and, there's another problem: I don't know which chip it uses...
and along with this, there is a memory card-like thing, that must be on the memcard slot
on boot.
(sorry, i'm a newbie in the ps2 scene... -.-)
here are some pics i've taken from the chip and that memory-card-thing... sorry for the
resolution, my webcam sux :/

It could have problems running because:
1. The laser is worn out and needs to be replace.
2. The modchip is outdated and it has horrible bootrates.

It looks like an origa Mod except the resonator is missing which will not direct boot any copies you must have an original Game Shark or AR Max to swap game titles or DVD Region free (movies only) hope this helps some. If you in the USA I can remod it with a better chip.
