Problems (booting and in-game) after installing Duo 2 chip
Problems (booting and in-game) after installing Duo 2 chip –
I just got a Duo 2 clone chip installed on my v7 PS2, that has never had a problem before. I am looking for your thoughts.
After getting the chip installed by an experienced installer, I tested booting some backups for about 30 minutes, and everything seemed to work fine. However, when I tried it last night for the second time, it had significant problems with booting, and when I was able to successfully boot I had major in-game issues.
It took me about ten tries before I was able to successfully boot an original game. Sometimes when I'd turn off and on the PS2, I would just get a black screen. The blue power light would be on, and I wouldn't be able to eject (the light would just flash). Other times I'd get the black screen, but would be able to eject. Sometimes I'd get to the "blue clouds" screen, but then it would go to the red screen of death when it tried to read the disc. And other times, I'd get the "blue clouds", but then only a black screen after it tried to load the disc (i.e. no 'Playstation 2' logo). And on the odd occasion, the game would actually load properly. This is with an original game which I've booted tons of times before without any problems.
Then I tried loading GTA:SA (original). It is booting OK, but when the screen stayed black right before the screen where you see the loading bar at the bottom (with no noise from the drive). I rebooted and tried again and it loaded OK, but now I am getting "error reading GTA:SA disc" errors repeatedly in the game.
The next morning, I tried GTA:SA again, and now it seems to be playing just fine. I tried playing with the chip both disabled and enabled, and it didn't seem to make a difference - everything is working fine at the moment.
Does anyone know what could be happening? The booting issues sound like a problem with the mod chip, but the in-game problems sound like a laser problem. However, I have never had a single problem before I installed the chip.
Although the booting problems are obviously a concern, it is the in-game laser-like problems that concern me the most.
Any advice is appreciated.
If i was you i have looking over my install, look for solder on the motherboard..
OK, I will open it up and take a look. Thanks for your response.
Does anyone else have any advice?
I tried playing originals more yesterday, and it seemed to be working better. However, GTA:SA did freeze up on me, although it didn't ever show the "read error" screen.
Do a full reinstall of your modchip and as short cables as possible....Maby its not working with to long cables if you have that...
OR maby its some wrong with your Duo2 chip buy a better chip like Matrix Infinity or a Crystal chip......
I only install Crystal and Matrix = Working 100% all the time.....
duo 2se work fine just hes got a cheap clone which could b the problem or the installion or ur laser or discs
