A Problem with my PS2 –
hi all i am having PS2 problems right. You know the back of the PS2 where there is a fan. Well the fan keeps making strange noises it keeps making loud noises how you stop this from doing this? Please help me.
Probably the bearing in the fan is going. Not an uncommon problem...same thing happens to power supply cooling fans in computers. Anyway, grab a replacement from a site of your choice and replace. One site that has them is http://www.gameconsolerepair.com/ps2parts.html.
its also possible that there is excess dirt/dust built up around the fan and is preventing it from turning without struggling. Try giving it a good cleaning with a can of compressed air.
make sure their are no wires or anything obstructing the fan before your buy a new one. What is the sound like? It is like somthing is hitting the blades, or is does it sound like the fan is going?
the fan is hitting something inside the PS2 and i am trying to stop it from doing it? Please help
If its hitting inside, then something is really wrong, since you will have to physically move the obstruction. There is nothing that would commonly get in the way, so take the PS2 apart and look...
If its just funny noises, you could try putting a drop or 2 of thin oil into the bearings: remove the lable thats on the bottom [oposite of the blade's top] and drop the oil through. Might help for a while.
Posibly hitting a snagged wire?
