My console is a US v14(75001, GH-040-52 motherboard), with a Green Dot MI.

It boots orgianl DVD videos, backup DVD videos and orginal games(NTSC), but it never works with backup games. Neither could it boot the Firmware upgrade CD.

The Green Dot MI seems to be working well since it boots DVD video of different area code and I can access the configure menu on start-up and change the configuration of MI and the subsript of the PS2 logo already changed to an infinity logo.

I used the same DVD-R and burner to burn both backup DVD videos and backup games. But MI only boot the DVD videos.

Another wired problem is that after installing the MI, nothing can be booted on start-up of PS2, and I have to wait until PS2 starts its operation menu and then insert the disc. If there is any disc in the console before starting PS2, the screen will remain black.

What could be the problem with my console? Laser lens problems? It's less than one year old

there's high probability that you have a bridge somewhere. I think that you need to up a picture of your install. You might have a bridge on the 'W' point from sounds of it, but need a pic to be sure. Also did you burn the right firmware. That's always the first solution before you go fiddling with install.
