Problem with DMS –
03-19-2004,12:24 AM
I installed the DMS3 on a v5/6 ps2 what i thought fine. The DMS explorer loads up perfectly, everytime. My back up copies though, don't seem to load as good. One game loads almost every other time (the times it doesn't load i get the RSOD). The other game, (which has never been tested..tiger woods 2004) normally doesn't load at all, but sometimes I can get it to the EA sports screen, before a lock up, or terrible skipping.
I'm wondering what my problems could be, it is because of a bad install? or is my lazer of my ps2 just going out? Maybe a bad modchip?
Also, is my dvd drive from the v5/6 interchangable with a model 390001 ps2?
NOTE: (on my install, i twisted the d and e with ground, and laid all the bios wires very well against the board, hardly any of them crossed,...but with the R-W i wasn't so careful and just soldered them where they go, and glued them to the board all at once, so im sure many are criss crossed and what not, i'm wondering if maybe that could be the problem?
(any reply is appreciated, I love getting those email notifiers that say someone responded;-))
thanks

I think its your lazer because ive done a couple of shit installs on a v7 and an incredibly shitty 1.5 hr installatin ona v5/v6. And its working perfectly to this day, (Its been chipped for about 4 months)
But my ps2, did the same thing, I have a v7 ps2 with a very very nice install dms3 v2, (it was my personal ps2 so i did it real well) But I overcharged the pot on the dvd laser and it blew, bought a new 60$ one and it was actually a referb, and it doesnt load any backed up things, but when I put in my friends ps2's laser, it works fine.
I dont feel like buying a new laser so it lays in pieces, I can play the genesis emu with the one rom I loaded on the memory card.
What ever you do, I suggest you dont adjust the pots on your laser. Ive dont it 3 times on different ps2 and have broken 2 ps2's I used a multimeter and everything. Go try and get a friends ps2 and sawp the laser, if it works, buy a laser from a reliable source, from the forums and ask around. god luck man
