I ripped the original ps2 power eject ribbon and ordered a replacment from liksang.. the replacement looks a lil longer and the clip at the end of it isnt folded the same way... my ps2 no longer powers on.. i think i can smell some type of heat odour in the power supply area.. but get no power.. i took a ribbon from another ps2(v5)(mine is a v4) and it worked...(that was 3 weeks ago though) any thoughts.. could it be anything else other then the ribbon? or is there anywasy to mannually to power on the ps2?

You must use the correct cable as there is logic that depends on the button press.

I have a v4 with gap bios...
I ordered a 7 pin ribbon cable from lik sang ( i think the old one was 7 pin not 5 also, but i misplaced it, and i read somewhere i needed 7 pin one).. if i look at the power/eject button it has 7 contacts on it, making me assume it would need 7 pins on the cable and the cable seems to fit perfect.. but i could be wrong.. anyone know how many pin cable the machine should have 5 or 7?
