Hi all, I'm new to the PS2 scene and attempted my first mod last night with the help of a friend who can solder. We are trying to put a Matrix infinity into a v9 (silver), s/n SCPH-50003. Before we started, PS2 worked fine and would play anything we threw at it. Once all the wires were soldered in, we plugged it back together and it booted to the intro/browser screen. We then put the outer case back on properly and tried it with a game - nothing. It powers up, and the DVD drive will eject (though takes longer than before for it to open I think??).
First thought was that we had pulled one of the little wires off when putting the case together, but I have checked them all this morning and as far as I can see they're all still connected. The DVD drive is not spinning when I put a DVD in, even though it has power and will eject. What is likely to cause this? I thought one of the ribbon cables that connect into it, but I have checked and they all appear to be plugged in properly. Is the problem more likely to be the chip, or something else we might have damaged? I am just about to try disconnecting power from the chip and trying again - I read that this is a good place to start, as it kinda determines whether the chip is causing the prob??
