ther are 4 solder mounds on the top and if you can see the bottome part you will see the 4 rods that go to those points.. you need to remove teh sloder from the 4 points on the top of the board and try to work it off to gane axx to the bottome of the board..

Uhhh, well first off, if you are new to soldering I wouldn't recommend an install on a V1 board anyway. Even proffesionals have difficulty with this. But if you must know, the bottom side of the board is the side with the huge heatsink on it. All you have to do to get to this part of the board is unscrew the screws holding the heatsink to the board. Then, find the chip you are looking for by locating the huge CPU, and finding the chip in the same relative spot as the one in the picture. Once again, a V1 install is no cakewalk. You would be better off trading in that V1 for a V7 which is much more newbie friendly. Or, you could just get a modchip installer to do it. And in some cases, you can take it to a TV repair shop or electronics supply store and they can do it for you. I hope this helps, and if you decide to go for it, good luck.

my ps2 version 1 sucks its reads sometimes thats why i figure i would try to install the chip in it to see if i mess it up.its no loss to me if i do,but damn i did not realize how small these connections are on the board damn.so that s connection is under the board then huh?just unscrew these screws and its under there right?thanks for the response now you got me scared is version 7 much easier as far as soldering to the points on the board itself?

The main thing the V7 does not make you do, is solder to DVD/CD controller legs. Compared to (said) legs, the bios legs are a cake walk. With the V7 you really only have to solder to 4 chip legs. And they are broad chip legs.

Hey I would say to give it a shot. I'm only 16 and never touched a soldering iron until 5 minutes before i successfully installed my magic 2. Works perfect besides the fact that it can't load dvd9. Just take your time and doubled check your work. I didn't even use a magnifying glass it's just to hard to hold all tht and the wire and iron. I didn't use an exacto either. Just be patient and use small amounts of solder at a time. It's easier to add solder than to remove it.
