Please Help, Magic 3.1 install acting up

Just installed the magic3.1 on a ver5. Originals load fine but backups say please insert a PS2 disc. Now the only thing that is weird is the reset button doesn't do anything for me, to play a original game I have to use the eject button to open the cd drive and then it will play the originals, but the reset button seems like it doesn't do anything. I checked the reset cable and it checks out fine on a continuity test so I don't think its the ribbon, also checked the chip install and everything is where it is suppose to go and seems like its good soldering so I don't know what to do. Its almost like I didn't do anything to it because originals play fine but backups won't and the reset button is screwy, Anyway thanks for the help in advance.

i seem to have the same problem, when i want to watch a dvd and i hold the reset button it works but in ps2 mode for ps2 backups its says insert playstation or playstation 2 cd if you figure it out let me know
