I am a newbie at this, and i just bought a messiah 2 pro for my ps2 39001, and I am just wondering what the other numbers i see are for? such as gh-19, gh-22 and so forth??

Those are the "model numbers" for the motherboard. They are being used more and more to determine the version of the console as opposed to the actual numbers on the outside of the console. Those numbers are stamped right on the motherboard itself.
