As of right now, I don't have a mod chip in my PS2 (V3, GH-006).
I am just trying out what media works in it. I burned a few movies on Ridata DVD+R, and they work perfectly fine in my V3 PS2.
I haven't gotten a chance to try out DVD-Rs yet (I don't have any with me right now).

So what I want to know is:
If and when I get a Matrix Infinity in my PS2, will it be able to read DVD+R games (back-ups of course)? I guess it should, since it can read it without a modchip. Or will it only read back-up games that are DVD-R?

I know that V3 lasers aren't very reliable, but I have rarely used my PS2 since I got it.

If it can read it when you burn a dvd movie then it will work when you burn a backup game.

    Thanks Tony.

So it should also obviously be able to read DVD-R back-ups, right? Not just DVD+R back-ups....

more than likely, DVD-R is the most reliable when it comes to ps2
Ive got an infinity and I just love it, great choice!

It depends on the brand of DVD-R you buy. Because some brand has better quality than the other.

Since you guys are talking about Matrix Infinity. Is it better than DMS3 feature wise and maybe other things also?

It has the PAL60 feature. They will fix the PAL60 feature so it will be perfected so you can play PAL games. Right now the only problem with PAL60 feature is that the y-axis is screwed. They will fix that with the next update. They also have the AUTOBOOT feature. So everytime you turn your PS2 on whatever disc in there will automatically be boot. No need to press any button on the joypad.

The Matrix Infinity is also smaller than the DMS3/+, making it easier for people to place it at a small area on the board.

    It's better than DMS3/+.

We have soooooooo many of these Matrix Infinity vs. DMS3/+ threads, I need to start making autoreplies.

Thanks from me TOO!! I was debating on either a Matrix or DMS3, and you just helped me make up my mind. Was wondering though, if i own a NTSC system, i can play PAL games/backups on it right? And same thing with dvd movies?

    THANKS!!
