pissed off –
well, i took the time to do the research, waited to see if dms3 is what i wanted, then decided, no, m2 is good enough, plus they support the v6, so lets go ahead and do it.
so i get the ps2 back, and, oddly it wont boot from the browser. hmm, bad install maybe? so the curiosoty was too much for me to take.
wtf chip is this? what is wrong with people who do this? i specifically said messiah 2. do you have the latest one because the v6 only supports the latest one? 'oh yes, of course'. why are people so stupid that they think they can get away with this?
i tell you one thing. he fixes this or his store is getting shut down. one way or another.
And did he charge you Messiah 2 prices? Very sorry to see your disappointment.
130 canadian installed... its not the money its the pita he's causing me now cuz i gotta go back to the store again and go through all this bs... do you recognize the chip? someone said its a xo-2? i've never seen it before anywhere...
Looks like a judus, and his wiring's shite!!!
Yes that is happening in Melbourne alot..
People advertising Cheap Messiah 2 installations........
But they end up getting a something else...
You are lucky you checked the chip. Most ppl don't. That why these shops have the balls to do this because most of the time they can get away with it.
Maybe someone should start a blacklist. That way ppl can check to see if the installer or store is honest and reputable. Or if there is already one can someone point me to it?
It looks like that HK Messiah 2 as they call it, so in reality, you got exactly what you ordered. Its more like a Magic clone than a Messiah clone. Maybe the installer doesn't know the difference?
The chip in question is a Blue chip II. I've installed a few of these for a customer that bought quite a few from Malaysia. I've found them to be extremely reliable and I find them second best to the Messiah 2.
You might notice that this chip doesn't use an on-board clock (no crystal or resonator) and uses a completely new point called "Y". I suspect this point is the clock signal, but is not tapped off in the same place as the M2 clock signal.
My customers Blue chips will only work with version 7 machines, so at the moment, that's the only install pic I have of it. I'll post it so you can see where this supposed "clock point is taken from.
I'm just wondering if your problem is the same. The dudes put it into your V6 PS2, but it only suits the V7's????
I would be totally pissed off myself and the dude has been deceptive. He probably didn't expect you to open the PS2 up and have a look. I'd take it back and make him exchange it for a Messiah 2, otherwise take him to the fair trade tribunal or what ever legal action place you have in your country.
If he's willing to replace it with an M2, then tell him you'd like to watch while he installs it to make sure.
Sorry to hear you got ripped off, as it makes alot of other mod chippers look bad also. But I have to admit moddy is correct that there are a few shonks here in Melbourne, as I've discovered two PS2's given to me for repair in the past with chips in them that the customer was unaware they were getting. They also specifically asked for M2's but were given Magic 3's instead. In both cases I replaced the chips for the correct ones and only charged them a modest fee. But I know who the mod chipper is that was deceptive in these cases.
I'll have a hunt around for the V5/V6 diagram for the Blue chip II and post it.
