I chipped this ps2 about 3 months ago with a magic 3 chip
guy phoned me said that he pressed he reset button screen went black not blue eject button light disk stuck no eject
picked it up this morning ps11 fuse has gone so i guess the ba chips blown as well, it had it s heat pad on it and the fan working, and checked my fitting of the magic3 every thing seem's fine
so why would the ba chip go is this because of the chip fitting or can they go for any other reason
what's to the best way to replace the chip.

Go in a pro with smd solder desolder station.
Dont try to replace with a normal solder iron

I have done a few removal and replacment of these "ba" chip.. not too bad if you have the right toos.. you might want to try CHIPQUIK Which i used in the past , work pretty well ..
as for why bruning out on you.... even with cool pad .. (happened with my installs by the way ) never found out why .. I guess the user might of force the tray in ??? .. The drive motor might got stock ?? (i replace the fuss and Ba chips.. have not come back yet.. : )
