Orange standby light??
yes it me again, what does an orange standby light mean? thankfully i have an extra ribbon and reset button, they both do the same. otherwise, its working again, but freezes after a minute, but im gonna work on the standby light first.
i did a search for orange standby light, no results came back!

Same as if you put in No solder modchip, if you hold eject to long, a orange light will glow!! It means that your ribbon cable causes the effect!!!!!!!!!!
-
both my ribbon cables are doing this. is there a way to clear it up?
all connections on the ribbon were tested and fine.

well, i got the light to shine red again. could the orange light be caused by too much solder on the Z and reset points? i removed the the 2 wires going to those points but i left the solder on those 2 pads. i solder wicked it up, now the lights normal. it wasnt a short or bridge anywhere cause i had gone over that spot numerous times, i left the solder cause it shouldnt have made a difference.
im a pro at taking ps2's apart now!

Taking apart is not so difficult!!!
use the famous method with the metal plates to make sure there are no bridges!! Nice, that you getted the red orange light, red again!!! Now, (you maybe don't wanna hear this!!) disconnecvt the modchip and do everything again!!! There is defenetly something worng, bye!!

not so difficult? i'd say that comment only applies for people with older ps2s including v0, v5+ are more harder.
-
really? ive taken apart a few v7's and my friends v4, almost exactly the same.

v4 was really easy, but the instruction sucked. :P
