How do i set it up to play online and would it play all regions of games and backups.
Also would i have to get a jap kit or would a uk or us network adapter function with the console.

Well, the DMS 2.0 allows you to play all regions of games, but online games that use some sort of mod-protections such as DNAS, will not allow you to play online. In that case, you could only play with a JAP Original with the DMS disabled.Originally posted by godfather477

In terms of being able to play online, it's better for you to get the BB kit for Japan as it comes with the HDD, Network Adapter, + the BB Navigator 2.0. However, you can only order it from an ISP with Internet Service from that Provider in Japan at the moment.
If you're lucky, you may be able to find one at a used game store in Japan.
I've never tried it personally, but theoretically the US/UK adapter should work when playing US games only. The reason for this is that the Network Adapter is different. It has both a telephone port (RJ-11) jack and an Ethernet port (RJ-45), whereas the JAP units only contain the Ethernet.
actually, it WILL still work with JAP online games, as the jap games detect it and it will only read from the ethernet jack, as as you said, there is no modem line jack.
you can get a US/UK adaptor, but since you have NTSC machine, get the US one, DNAS... hmmm... that might explain why MCII is not letting me connect...
