Ok thanks for your help guys, my problem for those who dont know is that PS2 backups arnt working, but everything else is ok. My Ps2 is a v5 with a dms...

Entity mentioned that ground wrapping wire D and E would solve the problem, most likely caused by interference (assuming all soldering points were correct)

Well they wernt after getting some better magnification i noticed that pin M on the bios was ever so slihgty bridged, so after fixing that and positioning my wires better I reassembled and I had no power but unassabling and reassabling seemed to solve that and IT WORKED!!! once...yes, One time only... then red 'please insert ps2 disc' , would this confirm the interferance problem???

Also I noticed my fan is no longer going , i did squish the wire a bit stupidly when trying to fit it back in (it was late i was rushing, thats what happends i guess) I could probably trim back the fan wire, solder damaged part , insulate and it would be ok? what do you think??

repairing the fan in that way would be fine.

the booting and rsod could be either d and e or a bigger ground is needed dont sound as if your far from getting everything working to me

you may also want to check the fan fuse while you have it apart , it may have blown if it shorted . also if a game booted 1 time are you using the correct boot procedure the rest of the times ?

Since it stopped working I opened it up again and resoldered point D as it was a bit loose, and i wanted to make sure that when the playstation was getting hot it only made contact because it got hot and expanded (at this point I didnt check fuse)

So I did that , resoldered the fan wires to double double check , they ARE fine so i think it could be the fuse (DAMMIT)

But it still no longer works, and I have gone over all my solder points with 3 magnifying glasses ontop of one another to make sure there are no bridges, I belive its all ok. Ground and Power look fine , My camera is too Shitty really to take decent pictures , i'll post what I have.

The fan fuse obviously doesnt stop it from working (until it obviously overheats) so I'd want to get it working 100% before i sort the fuse out.

I am using the modes properly on the dms.. When I enter disc when it works after about 2 secs it goes and loads the disc, but when i try at the moment it goes to the browser/config screen , then rsod. PS1 games dont work either, so I figured its acting as if no mod is installed.

that what the fan use does exactly stop the fan from working if the fan does not work it will overheat because of the thermal protection onboard the fuse is to stop further damage to the circuit.

    Ok.

Well in order for me to fix the fan i need more wire, and i dont even have any spare pc wires lying around at the moment, so It shall unfortunatly have to wait. Big thanks for all your help entity.

I have been told that you can connect up the fan to a 5v point on the board directly, is this ok?

yup thats fine there is a 5v regulator on the board near the fan but im sure cant say without checking the fan runs at 8.5v
so if you hook it to 5v it will run slower.
