I have an older version of Messiah 2 euro edition, bought six months ago. I know it works with v7. Is the v8 exactly the same (even the bios)? And how can I identify v8?

The v8 is commonly identified by PS2 mainboard type GH-022 and BIOS 090. This is the combination that must be present to indicate v8. To the best of my knowledge this combination occurred only on 39000 models (Japan) and 39006 (HK). Maybe also 39007 (Korea). There was one report on Gamefreax of a 39004 version in this combination, but only one report and nobody else has come forward with a European v8).

Older Messiah 2 (pre-v1.30) will not work with v8.
