Ok, in about 2 hours I am going to pick up a Playstation2 (in Canada) so it will most likely be a v7 (or v6). Now, I have 2 Magic3.1 Mod Chips (I am obviously only installing one, my friend wants the other one installed in his v7 PS2). Ok my question is with the Magic3.1, do I have to do any twisting of any wires at all for like a CLK point (does Magic3.1 even have one?) like I see on installed Messiah2 PRO Chips? Thankyou

And if anyone could give me any tips on installing the chip, I'd appreciate it. I got some Flux Paste and hairthin solder here.

Magic chips are not picky at all, you shouldnt have any problems. Search through the posts if you want install help, its been gone over a few hundert times.

Magic 3.1 doesn't have CLK wire, so no, you don't have to twist them.

As for tips, you can search the threads for soldering tips. The hardest part with a v7 are the bios pins. Make absolutely sure you don't bridge those legs.

A fine tip soldering iron will help you out a lot. If yours isn't fine tip, try using a file to sharpen it a bit. I use long metal tweezers to hold my wire in place while I solder the wires to the bios legs. Prevents my fingers from getting burned and is great for holding the wire steady on a bios leg.

thanks, im gonna use some tweezers, I have a 15 (switch) 30 watt iron from radioshack, the tips are fine in my opinion and from what I have heard they are good. Thanks for that tweezers tip.
