Try to wire it back to the leg. Solder one end to the via hole, solder the other to the ic leg.

I usually solder directly to the ic legs on V4's. Try that... follow the line to the correct leg, and throw a wire on it.

The via is supposed to be an easier solder point, but isn't necessary if you use the actual ic leg.

Mike, correct me if I'm wrong but the vias use to to send signal from one side of the board to another. Without the via connected would it be missing something? Again, correct me if I'm wrong.

You very well might be right... I've never lifted a via, in more than 3 years. I would have thought you could just connect to the chip leg, but who knows, the trace very well might have to be rebuilt. Sorry, I am not at all certain.

I think you're missing the point. The problem is not soldering the modchip to the leg. The problem is that the via is not sending data back to the leg, if the leg requires data from another part of the board it's not gonna get it with the via lifted and the trace cutt out.

Sure you can solder to the leg instead of the via, but what if there's a purpose for the via connecting to the leg and something is communicating with it?

No, I got your point, loud and clear. Which is why I commented that the trace (between the via and the ic leg) might very well have to be rebuilt... I'm just not certain.

ohh, yeah same here. Not sure if it's really needed. I was told that vias are there to transfer signal from one side of the board to the other. But yeah, that via might lead to nowhere, who knows. Maybe if someone can confirm.
