My teach said never to do cold soldering, because its not soldering. I never ask him why because, he like to give answer in metaphores.. or somethinng like that..
Anyways.. is it ok to do cold soldering when i mod my ps2? I don't have a .1mm needle, so I am afraid if I tried to solder the non cold way (by heating the pin) then I might burn something or even waste..

    any advise?

I would not recomend doing a cold solder. The conections could eaither fall off or create a short and cause problems. If you don't have a small soldering point all you do is buy a soldering pencil from Radioshack and take a hand metal file and file the point down. If you are not confortable with doing very small soldering points I would not do it.

    You don't DO cold solders.
Cold solders are the result of a NOT PERFECT solder.

It is not something you see until you start your machine and discover that it does not work or work in a erratic way.

Do like other suggested. Pay some pro to do the work and you will save yourself a lot of headache and money (considering that you also do not have the correct tools for the job).

I guess I'll have to do all the soldering myself, considering there aren't any pros in my area that installs "mod" chips..

I'll take my Law's advise and just file down my point. Would that in anyway damage my soldering iron though?

though filing the tip does significantly decrease the lifespan, but a 0.1mm tip is more than enough though lol.
