An odd problem...
I've had my magic 2 and ntsc PS2 v5 running well for a while now, but just a few days ago I was receiving a very odd behavior. My video and audio would go dead in the middle of the game I was playing and upon reboot sometimes the browser screen would show and sometimes it would not. My first assumption was that, as we all know, magic 2 likes to over heat. I narrowed it down to the reset/eject ribbon cable and maybe a blown fuse. The cable has been worn from a few fixes due to some cold solder points in the past. I figured it was partly due to the cable when I lifted and press the reset/eject switch, the browser screen and game screen became jumbled. Currently there is no video at all and only the sound will play.
Later I tested the ps2 with the top cover off and noticed games in the cd tray will boot, after boot the sound stops playing. I've taken my ps2 apart and tested for any blown fuses but I found none.
My question:
Does the reset/eject ribbon cable control or cause interference for any type of video signals sent from the ps2 to your tv and has anyone had a similar problem?
I already ordered a replacement ribbon, it should arrive in the next day and I recently cut my metal casing so that the magic 2 sits properly in my ps2.
Thanks in advance
