Are the probe points for tuning the laser with an oscilloscope on NTSC console mainboards the same as those for PAL consoles?

All the laser adjustment docs floating around out there only indicate PAL mainboards. When I try probing the same points on my NTSC systems, all I get is noise for output on my scope screen. I've grown tired of the guesswork with pot resistance and, to me, the better and more accurate way is to use an oscilloscope.

Also, the readings with the suggested scope settings seem to be WAY off scale. I have to adjust the vertical and time base on my scope to see anything that looks like what's supposed to be the output.

fyi - I've got a 50MHz, digital storage scope.
