Couple questions about NTSC & PAL on the PS2.
My v7 NTSC machine plays NTSC games w/out problems (PSX & PS2 Originals & Backups).

I recently backed up a couple games i found (Rocket Power & Disney Golf for the kids). After I look at the files, I realize one's NTSC and the other is a PAL game. I burn the NTSC game to CDR and it plays fine.

I then burn the PAL game and problems start. I get the PS2 Electrons, then a white "Playstation" logo, then the drive starts making all kinds of noises like it having trouble seeking...

Just as I'm thinking the game wont play, the screen starts rolling from bottom to top and the game starts playing.

The sound is fine, the screen is in color, but constantly keeps rolling from bottom to top. All the while the drive is making sounds like crazy.

    My questions are :
#1 Can M2 modded NTSC machines play Pal games (or am trying the impossible)?
#2 If yes to #1, then is there a problem with my M2 install, and if so, which wires should I be checking?

When I installed my M2, I did the NTSC/PAL Colour fix. If this is the problem area, I can recheck those connections.

I'm not an expert, but I'm sure you can patch the game to convert it from PAL to NTSC.
As for the rolling picture, you need to adjust your vertical hold control, that's if your TV has one. If not, then it may need adjusting internally or you need to mod your TV.

Your tv image is rolling because the video mode in ps2 is switched to PAL (50Hz sync) anyway, the colorfix jumper only force the color mode to NTSC, that´s why we call pseudo-ntsc

No vertical hold on my TV (haven't seen one of those in quite some time). Modding my TV is too much trouble, I'd rather just scrap the game...

Still wish I had my old multisystem tv that I picked up when I used to live in the UK, unfortunately a lightning storm took it out a couple years ago.

... or scrap the TV and get a multi-syatem TV. I thought that most modern US TVs can resolve 50Hz; only the olfer or supermarket TVs are limited to 60Hz.

Don't know much about TVs. I have a 32" Sanyo (yeah, not the best brand, but for $450 5 years ago, it was a deal).

My 27" Multisystem TV cost me ₤400 7 years ago and when it got zapped 4 years ago, I couldn't find a replacement for it in the states (multisystem TVs aren't that big here we & our neighbors all use NTSC).

Now, I still have my multisystem VCR somewhere..... hmmmmm
