Did you do the NTSC/PAL Colour Fix soldered to GND to force PAL output? And which RGB Scart cable do you use? And what havens if you just use the red/white/yellow AV wires into the TV if it has such a socket (as most do)?

This is right. You don't need the fix by my reckoning. I have a PAL v7 Messiah 2 and one of my TVs is multi-system.
Playing US version FF IX backup (PS1) i have a perfect all round picture, whether I set system configuration to FULL or 4:3, or whether RGB (recommended) or C/Y/MG/B or whatever.
Now is that all PS1 NTSC games? Any originals? Any backups that might have had a PAL patch applied? That sort of thing?

No idea then. The PS2 being a v7 should put out 60Hz 3.58MHz colour sub-carrier when playing an NTSC game. It may be the TV isn't true multi-system and uses pseudo-NTSC; that's 60Hz 4.43MHz but that would affect the colour; possibly pseudo PAL which is 50Hz 3.58MHz colour.
Get your installer to retro fit the fix placing it to GND.
It's actually a v4.

Ahh - my eyes. If it's a v4 then it's a bug in PS2 code as per US PS2s with Messiah. The PS2 is putting out Pseudo PAL, I reckon.
So you need the Colour fix setting it to GND to force PAL.
