..just work fine, BUT all NTSC PS1 Backups running in PAL mode with big bars. Is that PS2 generally or DMS3 related ? Btw. all PS2 NTSC games run in NTSC mode.

yes. like always when playing ntsc games in pal mode. (because of PAL having a higher RES than NTSC)

I'm not sure, but the DMS3 may be running NTSC PS1 games at 50hz instead of 60hz causing the large black borders. Other chips to do this are Magic and neo4 and various others. The only chips I know to do true screen size correction for NTSC PS1 games on a Pal machine are Messiah, Messiah2 and the Origa chip.
    PAL 30003 v4 GH-010 Messiah1, neohex de-macro chip
    PAL 30003 v4 GH-013 Neo4
    PAL 39003 v7 GH-022 Matrix Infinity
    PAL 50003 v10 GH-026 Ghost2
    PAL 35003 v4 GH-012 DMS3

That will be your TV and the way it deals with Pseudo-PAL (60Hz PAL Colours). Some TVs handle it without bars, some interpret the signal the other way, so to speak.

We put the PAL fix onto our NTSC v8 and NTSC games played full screen with DMS3 on the PAL only TV.

i dont think thats the point because PS2 NTSC games work in NTSC mode and my PS1 plays those NTSC games just fine as well. (with and without RGB)

Can anyone with a DMS3 confirm if the chip runs PSX NTSC games in 60hz or 50hz on a PAL machine. If they run at 50hz, the chip may well be suffering from the same short comings as the Magic and Neo4 chips.

    Hi!

    Just modded a PAL V7 with a DMS3. That piece of s)(t
won't play NTSC PS1 games in full screen, but displays
borders over and under the screen.

It doesn't have anything to do with the TV, as my own
V5 PAL with Messiah runs NTSC games with the same
cables in 60 Hz full screen on that TV.

Seems to be a bug in the DMS.

    thanx for that info.
Maybe they will fix that dms3 problem with an (firmware) update. Otherwise i ll throw that chip away and fetch a Messiah.
