ntsc on a pal tv –
01-11-2004,06:09 AM
A freind of mine has had his ps2 chipped i think he has a magic 3, his ntsc backups play in black and white. He has tried a scart lead but still B/W the person who modded it has told him if he takes it back they will ground a point out on the motherboard to allow it to play in colour. Can this be done or are they just messing him about also if it can be done will it cause any damage to ps2. I myself am not sure i have only done about 7 ps2 with the DMS3 chip so would appriciate any help on the matter.

Yes, it can be done, it's called the colour fix. Basically, it forces the ps2 either to output all signals in Phase Alternating Line mode (PAL) or National Television System Comittee Mode (NTSC).
The good thing about his TV is it wasn't rolling the screen, therefor he can still get a high 60hz signal on his TV.

can it cause any damage to the ps2. Do you know which points you solder or can you supply diagrams or point me in the right direction for them. I think the ps2 is a v7 pal. thanks m8
