Well, no. "With some modification of the board"? You mean just messing with things without a chip? Nope. But you can install a chip and still not have problems with your PAL originals and play NTSC originals.

If you installed more than 400 mod you should know that the main use of a Mod is to allow the play of NTSC original Import games on a PAL PS2 (or viceversa).
Yes, Chip&Chop I know that the main use of a Mod is to allow the play of the imports and backups.
On playstation 1 ( cant remember model-long time ago), a frend of mine (electronic eng) accidentally convert pal motherboard in to ntsc. He just link two points on the ps1 motherboard. I thought that something like that is possible on PS2. To allow the play of original imports and not the backups. But thanks anyway.
