Normal Magic 3 Or Not –
02-08-2003,04:09 PM
I just installed another Magic3 (old stock) on a version 5 ps2. This one acts strange , I think. Real quick question, if the chip boots some games of all media type ok ,then the installation is correct and the chip is working like it should??
Example
Some Ps2 backups work and some don't
Some Ps1 backups work and some don't
all originals work fine ps2 and ps1
Both ps1 and ps2 games that dont boot , go to red screen and the disc stops spinning. and the games that do boot, play fine and boot 100% every time.
and all of these back-ups are proven to boot in my ver3, magic2, ps2 (which is very picky about media).
I read some were if the chip boots some games of all media fine then the installation is ok.
Could this be another laser issue. Or is this normal ,are magic3.0 chip very limited to the backups they can boot. Like I said these backups work fine in my vers 3 magic 2 ps2????

The magic3.0 have some bugs corrected on the 3.1 version, it not boot ok all the time, but if you install with shorter wires will help a bunch....

Thanks for the reply, I do have my wires pretty short except for the wires to back of the board. Short as possible anyway. It seems to boot certain games 100 % and others 0%.
But as for the installation , if any points were crossed or open , Would the chip boot any backups ps2 or ps1 or none at all. I guess what I'm asking is, does the chip use different codes to boot different games or does it boot all games the sameway. I know there is a difference between ps1 and ps2 modes. If this machine boots at least one ps1 backup and at least one ps2 backup then I assume the installation is correct????
