Noob question alert –
I've been big on the xbox modding scene, and now I want to get my ps2 going. I've been looking around, but I don't know where to find the answers to my questions. So, here they are:
How do I tell what version of PS2 I have?
What are the pro's and con's of each modchip?
What can I do once I have a modchip?
Can I do anything cool with the hard drive?
With my xbox I can backup my games to HDD, put in a new Dashboard, play any region discs, and run emulators and other homebrew software. But I'm sure a lot of you already knew that. Sorry if I didn't do enough searching. I know how some forums are big on searching, and this site seems to be one. Not that it's a bad thing.
Anyway, Thanks everyone
Oh, I forgot one thing. When is the GC emulator for PS2 gonna be availible?
2. This is a very general question in which I can't answer here alone. Do some reading. I recommend the Matrix Infinity though. I'll probably recommend the DMS4 but it is not out yet and I don't know how it performs.
3. Play backups and run some not-up-to-xbox-level programs. This is a PS2, you don't have all the fancy stuff Xbox has within the community. This question depends on which modchip you get.
4. Yes, run games off of it and that's pretty much it.
5. Gamecube emulator? LOL.
