Problem: no disc in tray, hold reset for 5 sec. to disable chip startup screen (blue cubes ) appears then goes to browser, all normal. Go back to stand-by. Tap reset to enable chip, black screen. no startup screen.
Would anyone know what the problem could be?
P.S. (If I muck around a bit tapping reset, screen may come on. If it does it plays backup's fine)

    Bad Chip or poor wiring.

Sounds like ground bounce. The 'R' wire should be ran away from the other wires.

I have run the R wire away from the others (have had that trouble before). Do you think that the M,N,O,P wires could have something to do with it? If so I will re-solder them but if you think not then I'll leave them alone. Thanks

You might have success with ground wrapping the 'R' wire and make sure you use a short ground wire 22-24 GA.

Thanks spedmetal , A bit of an update. If I disable chip and play an original and let the console warm up then go back to stand-by, re-boot with tap, works every time. Let it cool down again and problem back. ???
