I finally got a matrix infinity installed on my PsTwo. Before the mod it could read dvd's and cd's perfectly. Now after the mod the spindle will not spin at all. I've been reading and have checked all my fuses and all seem to be in order. I checked the 303 resistors and two of them are at 29.77 or so and the other two are in the 27 range. Is this normal for that? Also I checked the focus coil and the tracking coil. The focus coil was ok at about 4.4 but the tracking came in at like 40k. I'm not sure what to do and I'm at my wits end with this. Please help I just want it to read games, even the originals.

I ran into a similar problem and it turned out that one of the resistors were burnt, but yours seem to be measuring just fine.

You're sure you've got the laser assembly plugged in and the case correctly re-installed? I know it seems obvious, but these things can get you.

On startup I can go the whole way through the screen. I can get into the infinity config menu. It loads into the ps2 dash. I can disable my chip. I can do everything that you can do without actually using the chip. The two switches one is permanently depressed and the other seems to be fine. The laser will move towards the center move up and down, but the disc will not spin no matter what I do. All cables have been fully reseated and testing the points on the dvd drive and the motherboard I am getting a good connection.

Man oh man, This problem I had on 3 motherboards myself.

let me guess, you installed the summ0ne fix?
I think my mistake was to use flux on the resistors, because this happend every time after installing summ0ne fix. Though i also removed it.

My iron is only 11w and i never hold longer than like max 1 sec, so dont think the resistors are ****ed.

After i stopped using summ0ne fix, i never broke a ps2 no more.
    Im using subzero fix now.

Sounds like your laser is nackered mate,
the tracking coil is what is known as open circuit

this can be caused by a manufacturing defect and with slightly more current flowing through the tracking coil, due to burned media this caused a small break in the wire inside the coil

someone else recently had the same problem, cant remember who
I would put it down to bad luck but I would make sure you have adequet protection like the subzero fix (this is the easiest and cheapest fix around and it works 100%)

    regards,
    Danny

either the 303 resitors are broken.. or they dont have connection to the board anymore. put a little bit of solder on each end of the resistor that they are 100% connected to the board again.

also check if PS13 is blown.

    this should solve your problem!
