The no-solder mods work perfectly with 1:1 CDR backups and 1:1 DVD-R backups. They do NOT work well with many DVD-Rips.Originally posted by snoogans

For the v7 you will need the Swap Magic discs to use with the no-solder mod, since the GS2/AR2 will not work.
AS for the Princo media, it all depends on your laser and the PS2 itself. You just have to try different media to see what works and what doesn't.
thanks man, do you by chance know where i can find the instal diagrams for a v7 system?
never thought that no-solder mods would require install digrams..
i'm a newb, so i just want to make sure the v6 is just like the v7 diagram, just so i'm sure, hehe
fair enough..
wasn't having a go at u.. just... never thought they'd have diagrams.. i thought u just plugged em in or something.. i don't really know..
Same as v5/v6. Unplug the 'eject/reset' ribbon cable from the mainboard and plug it into the mod connector. Do the same with the wider ribbon cable next to it. Then plug the mod's edge connectors into the connectors on the mainboard (where you unplugged the ribbon cables).Originally posted by snoogans

thanks alot
princo cdr media works good with me with a Thips4 dvd rip on a v5.. not sure about the dvdr media on a v7 but if they're designed by the same company, and one of them works on a ps2, then they're both bound to work.
Foo
Actually you need to be careful with the no solder v5/6 combo chip because there are 2 seperate places (3 total) for one of the cables depending on if you have a v5 or v6 and if you plug it in the wrong slot you kill your ps2, as for princo on a v7 don't know but my v4messiah and none of my unmodded v5 (3 of them) like princo dvd-r although the v5's play princo dvd-rw.
