No-Solder Modchip Question
No-Solder Modchip Question –
I was researching a modchip called the AceKey. This mod seems near identical to the No-Solder Modchip (a.k.a R Key), except there is an extra wire to auto-boot PS1 games. The AceKey can also be used without the wire, but minus the PS1 auto-boot part.... which essentially makes it, for all intents and purposes, the same as the No-Solder Modchip.
The diagrams for the installation are here http://www.chipzone.com/installation...ekey/page1.cfm
This has me thinking... how closely related are the AceKey and No-Solder Modchip? The chips themselves look very similar...
Would there be some way to add an extra wire to the No-Solder Mod to enable the PS1 auto-boot mode for this mod also?
I realise this is a bit of a dumb question.... but the mods look so similar that it wouldn't suprise me at all if such a thing could be done.
You understand that this is a no-solder swap till your hands bleed modchip right? It also requires AR MAX or Gameshark. I recommend you stay away from these chip. If you can't install it is worth every penny to get it installed by a modchip installer. Note that I said modchip installer, not the guy who claims to be a professional at some store. If they don't install PS2 modchips, then I wouldn't trust them with my PS2.
I've got the No-Solder modchip anyway, had it for almost 2 years now! Eh it works well enough for me. I like to do my modding myself, and with that in mind, it's fine... better than a tacky fliptop at any rate. And works with the Swap Magic/Breaker Pro.
I was merely curious as to whether I could add the extra wire to the chip for auto-boot PS1, like with the AceKey, because the AceKey is so similar to the No-Solder Mod that it wouldn't suprise me if they are near enough the same thing.
Oh, well in that case I guess you can live with it. Kewl.

I suspected as much. Wondered if anyone had tried it, but I daresay you are right.
And yeah I can live with this, sorta. I can 'auto-boot' my PS2 games from the HDD in a sense anyway. Besides, being an RPG fan, auto-boot PS1 would be more helpful for me.
I was looking at the NeoKey too since also that has auto-boot PS1 with a single wire (even I can manage that) , but I don't think it works on my v7.
Yeah. The USB key works on v7. There's a diagram at www.nitsur.com I saw it yesterdays
just put a PSone 4 wire mochip pin 1 to 5v+ , pin8 to GND and pin6 with a 1mf capacitor negative end to board scex point and positive to pin 6
and you got it chip updated :P really works fine i used it for a while
Lol are you serious? Never heard anything about that before o.o
Interesting that the USBKey works... now to find a UK seller...
