no picture or sound –
hi there ok i have to come clean im an xbox modder myself but ive just got my hands on a ps2 v7 so i thought "hey ill chip it,ive done loads of xbox's it'll be a breeze!" well no.when i got the chip and checked the install insructions i though **** this no danger am i doing that.but i went ahead and did it anyway.heres the deal when i power up i have no picture or sound the lights are on and it seems to be working as far as i can tell.with xbox's the eject button flashes so you know whats happening by the coulour and how many times it flashes.9x outta !) its a soldering.im stumped with this one any help appreciated.
the best of it is its a modbo v1.1 chip
i wish i had read this firum before i went shopping
Did you try changing enay of the settings on the modbo, and did you try disableing it,to see if theres anay picture or sound then?
Also check that theres no solder bridges or splatters.
as ive had no picture since the modbo went in ive not been able to change any of the settings or anything.ive not tried removing the chip yet ill try that today.do i need to remove all the wores or just remove the ones from the chip and leave the rest connected to the motherboard??
Check point 'I', which is on the back of the ps2 motherboard. If this point is grounded out (if it is making contact with the ps2 metal sheild... and the shield does go right over it) then it will cause the exact problem you are having.
The same thing happened to me when I was doing my V7. I had to use 3 pieces of electrical tape to keep that point insulated cuz the pressure from the heat shield kept making that point poke through.
most likely the mod is bad or you bridged a point on the bios or have a bios wire in the wrong place.
thanks mate im new to the ps2 modding scene done dozens of xbox's and theyre a piece o piss to do compared.im gettin a mag glass tonight so i should be able to check soldering a bit better.what if it is a faulty chip,or is there any way i could've fried it maybe??
MODBO are clone crap!! try removing the power and ground wires from the mod, if your unit powers up then bad mod. I have modded over 1000 PS2's and generally it is solder bridge, wire in wrong place or defective mod.
well thats all worked well think ive knackered it.the tray wont open now atall no blue light or anything.the worse thing is now i rekon ive had enough practice i think i could chip the station no probs.looks like its a trip to the shops for a new one.unless anyone has some sorta super fix.
