No Longer Reading Disks
No Longer Reading Disks –
Hi, wondered if anyone could shed some light on this.
Chipped up a v3 (020) bios console about 2 weeks ago with the Homebrew magic. All working fine until 2 nights ago, the console was switched off after use as normal and the next day when it was turned on nothing would boot. The unit has not been moved since it was chipped.
If you watch the lid of the laser unit when booting up a disk (any disk) you can see the spindle turn a couple of time but not as fast as you would normally see it (i think! never took that much notice in the past). Sort or pulses slowly (this maybe because no disk is being detected ?).
Then it spins up to a faster speed only to go to the Browser screen. If I press X on the browser screen it takes quite a while to give up but when it does the screen goes grey and says "ERROR READING DISK".
As Charlie_ps2's guide says I removed the installed chip and it does exactly the same thing.
It does this regardless of what type of disk is inserted and even though there is now NO chip in the console it does not go to the red (Please insert a playstation 2 cd) screen.
Just to the browser???
I have gone over all previously connected points and they all seem fine although I do understand from experience that it is easy to miss something. Just wondering if someone else has experienced this problem before.
