No light comming from laser

Is the laser dead. Its a PS2 V4. Any help would be great.

Yes, the DVD side of things would be stuffed. If the laser doesn't emmit red light then it would need to be replaced. But it may still boot CD based media.
You can buy brand new lasers from Liksang. I've bought many from them and they've worked flawlessly. Here's their URL:
